Hangzhou Huanyutianqi Technology Co., Ltd. ("Aove", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of Aove Mate (the "Service"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our mobile app, web app, and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
Information we collect
We collect personal information in three ways: you give it to us, we measure it as you use the Service, and we receive it from third parties.
Information you give us directly
- Account information: name, date of birth, gender, phone number or email address, and the password you set.
- Profile content: photos, written prompts, interests, intent (dating, friends, both), and other details you choose to share on your profile.
- Verification data: a short live selfie video used once to confirm you match the photos on your profile. The raw video is discarded after verification; we keep only the verification result.
- Communications: messages and any other content you send to other users through the Service.
- Preferences: distance radius, age range, intent, notification settings, and other choices you configure.
- Support enquiries: when you contact us, we keep the messages you send and our responses.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: device model, operating system version, language, time zone, mobile network operator, app version, advertising identifier (where applicable).
- Usage data: screens you view, features you tap, swipes, matches, sessions, error reports, and performance metrics.
- Location data: by default, we use coarse location (city / neighbourhood). If you enable "Nearby Now", we collect precise location only while the app is open. You can revoke either at any time from your device settings.
- Cookies and similar technologies: on the web, we use cookies for authentication and analytics. The mobile app uses equivalent local storage.
Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive your name, email, profile photo, and (where you have granted it) basic profile details.
- Payment platforms: Apple App Store and Google Play handle all paid transactions. We receive only the transaction status, plan, and subscription ID — never your card details.
- Identity verification partners: our verification provider returns a verification status. They do not share your selfie video with us.
- Reports from other users: if another user reports you, we receive the content of their report.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Create and operate your account and profile.
- Match you with other users in your area based on your preferences.
- Power core features — chat, swipes, matches, location radius.
- Verify identity and detect impersonation, fraud, and policy violations.
- Send transactional notifications (matches, messages, account alerts, security warnings).
- Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
- Improve the Service — diagnose crashes, fix bugs, measure feature performance.
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce these terms.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
Sharing of information
We share personal information only in these limited cases:
With other users
Other users see what you put on your profile — your photos, name, age, prompts, and approximate distance ("0.4 mi away"). They never see your exact location, phone number, email address, or last name.
With service providers
We rely on third parties to operate the Service. Each one is bound by a written agreement that limits their use of data to providing the contracted service:
- Cloud hosting and storage providers
- Push notification gateways (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Email and SMS delivery providers
- Identity verification providers
- Analytics and crash reporting providers
- Customer support tools
For legal reasons
We may disclose personal information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Aove, our users, or the public.
In corporate transactions
If we are acquired, merged, or restructured, your information may be transferred to the new entity. We will notify you before any such transfer takes effect and offer you the choice to delete your account.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law.
- Active accounts: we retain your data for as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: after you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your profile data, photos, and messages within a reasonable period. We may keep limited account metadata for a further period to prevent fraud and re-registration of banned users, then delete it.
- Backups: residual copies may persist in our backups for a limited period after deletion.
- Legal holds: we may retain specific data longer if law requires it (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).
Your choices
- Update your profile at any time from Settings → Profile.
- Turn off location from your device's settings, or set a manual city inside the app.
- Manage notifications from Settings → Notifications.
- Opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
- Delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data (subject to limited legal exceptions).
- Object to or restrict certain processing (EU, UK, Brazil residents).
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing relies on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- Opt out of any "sale" or "share" of personal information (US state residents — even though we do not sell data, you may flip the switch).
To exercise any of these rights, email hw@hytqai.cn. We will respond within 30 days (or sooner if your local law requires).
How we protect data
We use industry-standard safeguards designed to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of personal data in transit and at rest.
- Hashed passwords — we never store your password in plain text.
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
- Regular reviews of our systems and security practices.
- Incident response procedures, and we will notify affected users of a personal data breach without undue delay and as required by applicable law.
No system is perfectly secure. You also play a role — use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.
Children
Aove Mate is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us at hw@hytqai.cn and we will remove the account immediately. See also our Child Safety Policy.
International transfers
Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we or our service providers operate, which may be outside the country where you live. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from your own; wherever your information is processed, we take reasonable steps to protect it consistent with this Policy.
Updates to this Policy
If we change this Policy in a material way, we will notify you in-app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
